The senate chaired by Chancellor is the main governing body under which is university's executive team lead by VC & a senior executive group led by VC(vice chancellor). Right now there are 51394 student enrolments , 3350 academic staffs, more than 270000 worldwide alumni, students from more than130 countries, more than 5.2 million items in university's library, students exchange programs with 30 countries and more than 200 student union clubs & sporting clubs. It has opened it's door wide open for people from all corners & walks of life. In November 2014, university celebrated the 8 outstanding women's attainment. With its reformative program  "Wingara Mura – Bunga Barrabugu",it has designed to extend the participation of Torres Strait islander & Aboroginal people as students as well as staff. Yearly it grants more than 700 scholarships worth Au$65 million.
